Hot and smokey here. Highs in the 100's and lows in the 80's. This is not my favorite time of year.

Very pleasant weather at the moment. Highs in the 60s and nights are around 40. It was a bit windy last week but the wind did bring some rain. The ground is now wet! About an inch of rain over the last two weeks. It never came down heavy and there wasn't any runoff but I did spot a few puddles here and there although they drained away quickly. This will at least provide a little bit of feed but it is too late for the crops now.

Our town just about burned down recently and the smoke is horrible! At least the smoke blocks the sun, so it doesn't get as hot.

Tropical Storm Fred is bringing us some cool Atlantic air right now. And a bit of drizzling rain here and there, and a light but steady easterly wind. Depending on which track it decides to take, things could get interesting later on. At this moment, we are right in the crosshairs, but that could change after it makes landfall.

Doc we have gotten about 4 inches of rain out of that system so far. Pretty soggy here. It swept through here in the middle of the night and was gone when I got up the next morning. The only evidence of wind and rain was water on the toolbox of my truck, which was parked in the carport, so the rain had to be blowing in pretty hard at some point. No limbs down, basement didn't flood, it didn't even knock over the garbage can. It's muggy now from all the water.

Well we have gotten another 5 inches since the last post. 9 inches in less than a week is ungodly. Thank goodness I am on the top of a mountain or I would need an ark. My lawn will be tickling my butt cheeks by the time it dries out enough to mow but thankfully not much wind

Thunderstorms predicted for the next 9 days straight. Rained three times today already, and more coming before midnight. I think it must be monsoon season. LOL

Getting warmer down under now. The sun is higher in the sky than a month ago and feels warmer when it is shining on you. Had a frost two mornings ago, possibly had one the morning before but I stayed snug and warm in bed and didn't check! Highs hit the 70s for a couple of days but there was also a light shower every hour or so. No useful rain in it but it made everything wet so doing anything outside was not really an option. The forecast is for one day to reach the 80s next week! The warmer weather means the snakes are out and about now. I saw a dead brown snake and another unknown (really squashed) one on the road a few days ago! Also saw the biggest Red Kangaroo I have seen in a while dead on the side of the road. It would have weighed around 150 pounds but a truck had hit it. Glad it wasn't me that hit him!!

Ugh. It is getting hot. 95 today. And then cloud cover came over so now at dusk it is still in the 80s. I am slowly melting and hoping for a bit of breeze to move the air around. And yet in a couple of months this will be considered 'not too bad a day'! Note to Old Man Winter: "please come back"!
