Just got to 100 today. Wasn't too bad in the shade but the sunshine is really hot and not a cloud in the sky. Temps increasing for a couple days then cooler again.

Similar temps here, dirtdiva , the only difference is C not F! It hit 45.9C today which is nearly 115F. Nice low humidity with a breeze so not too bad. Light cloud most of the day which cut the brutal sunlight down but the same cloud holds the heat in overnight. Still in the 90s (30C) at around midnight! Expect it will go over 100 tomorrow too before cooling down again. There is a big mess of cloud over Aus so it might even rain!

You can keep that weather kelabar! I grew up in southeastern Louisiana pre air condition years. I can remember the heat just taking your breath away with no wind and the humidity so thick you could cut it with a knife. Then I moved to Florida for work and it was worse just a little more breezy. Just don't know if I could take that brutal heat any more. On the flip side where we lived before here there was snow on the ground all winter and brutal cold. With the plateaus we hope the flee the extreme shifts due to elevation. Here today daytime high temp 44F and night time lows 33F with a slight rain falling and cloudy.

Is turning out to be a beautiful sunny 60 degree day here on the mountain after a violent thunderstorm moved through last night with lots of thunder and lightning.

A lovely series of days here in southern Aus. The forecast is highs around 85 and lows around 55 for about a week. But no rain. If this is 'global warming climate cooling crisis change', or whatever it is called this week, then I am all for it! I'll be setting fire to large piles of old tyres to try and keep these temps. Have only had a handful of days in the hundreds this summer. Instead of the normal dozens. And very few flies, yay! I had a look at the relative latitudes of Aus and the USA. Of similar size but offset by quite a few degrees N/S. The southernmost point of mainland Aus it at 39 degrees latitude. This corresponds to a line through the bottom of Ohio and Nebraska. Tasmania is further south but as I understand it the temps are very much evened out there on a world scale by being surrounded by seawater. The top of Aus (Cape York) is at 10 degrees latitude! This is the same as Costa Rica! No wonder it is so hot here. The northernmost most populated city is Brisbane at around 27 degrees. About the same as Florida and the bottom of Texas. Most (sensible) Aussies live around or south of this. As for the UK, London is at 51 degrees latitude. This is equal to (always frozen?) Canada! Again the UK is warm(ish) because of the ocean, in particular the Gulf Stream.
