I have heard and read some seriously nutty things about the coming vaccines. From 'they will change your DNA' to 'they will add nano trackers' to 'you will grow and extra arm and a man's testicles will shrivel' Some of this from people who I thought had a better grasp on reality.
Anyhoo, don't really care what you think about the vaccine itself, I would be interested to know who is considering the vaccination. I myself will have it, if I could choose, I would have the Oxford vaccine.

I am a little concerned that they rushed it through but i can understand why. But in rushing it through how thoroughly has it been tested? So for me my vote is I don't Know and am still thinking about it. I also want to talk to my doctor about it.

But in rushing it through how thoroughly has it been tested? This would be my worry as well. It doesn't take long to develop vaccines, it is the testing that they have to go through that takes time. So any quick vaccine won't have had a lot of testing and may cause unknown effects. But I won't get the vaccine anyway. This disease isn't deadly enough to warrant being injected with something IMO.

I'm going to get it, being over 60 years old, my wife has to have it because she is a frontline nurse practitioner. Dunno if I will get any say in which type is available though but some are 90% effective on two full doses, others 75% .

Statistically speaking, I should get the vaccine. My chances of having serious COVID complications outweigh the vaccine risks, and I'm too old to worry about sterilization, that ship sailed long ago when the wife went through menopause, LOL.
Still gonna wait a while though.

Same here. I am definitely at risk for complications but just can't get past that little voice saying " maybe not"! As far as being infertile cancer pretty well took care of that long ago.

There is a link to an FDA study on the Pfizer vaccine in this article. According to the article the vaccine does work. www.sovereignman.com/trends/why-the-number-3-may-make-you-rethink-covid-hysteria-29697/I found the opinion of the author to be closely aligned to my thinking about the whole virus thing. In the placebo group very few people got sick. A quote: "...out of 20,000 people who did NOT receive the vaccine, 162 of them expressed symptoms of acute respiratory illness and tested positive for COVID-19 during the evaluation period. And out of those 162 in the placebo group who tested positive for Covid, THREE of them had ‘severe’ Covid. And only one of them was hospitalized." "Yet the numbers show that 98% of the people who tested positive for Covid during the evaluation period had a mild case." Here is the bit I agree with: "It’s astonishing that they still want to shut down the economy given this data. Now, I’m not dismissing Covid. A lot of people have suffered from it, and a lot of people have died. But it’s absurd that COVID-19 has become a sacred, hallowed, untouchable topic that outweighs every other priority in our society." IMO there is something wrong in the world. I hope it gets fixed.

In my own personal opinion you cannot continue to start and stop the economy of an entire country and not eventually destroy it.
I do not dismiss any disease.
We voluntarily isolated before anyone told us to. We voluntarily wore mask when no one else was wearing them. We took responsibility for our own bodies knowing that we are older and have health risks that increase our chances of complications with any disease. We can do this easily because we have no small children in school. Both of us are retired so we can stay home and still have an income without threat to ourselves or endangering others by spreading the disease. We can do this because we prep and have for decades making sure that in a situation like this we have the luxury of locking the front gate on our rural property and ducking out of the merry go round that all of this has become.
I will say that in the past we have stayed out of town and around people even when the regular flu has gotten bad in our area. If we are sick we stay home. If there is something going around we go out of our way to avoid it. To us it is just common sense.
We are also aware that not everyone is in that position or that fortunate or wise.
I think this has exposed a great deal wrong. A media spreading panic and out of control. A government that maybe has no clue and is not nearly as prepared as they try to make people think they are. The lack of medical care in rural communities. The problems associated with relying on foreign companies for all of one product such as masks or medicines. The breakdown of the transportation and food distribution systems that this country depends on. Or maybe the mistrust of the common man in the medical establishment, big pharma and the elected officials in our governments. I think maybe all of this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I hope that we have learned something as a society and maybe a world about our own vulnerabilities and limitations.

Absolutely will NOT get the vaccine. I have never even had the flu shot. There's some discussion in the media here in Australia about employers being legally able to force employees to be vaccinated. If that happens I will be retiring a few years earlier than planned.

I have heard and read some seriously nutty things about the coming vaccines. From 'they will change your DNA' to 'they will add nano trackers' to 'you will grow and extra arm and a man's testicles will shrivel' Some of this from people who I thought had a better grasp on reality. The way the mRNA vaccines works is by genetically modifying your cells so that your own cells produce spike proteins that mimic the spike proteins on the virus. Your body then learns to recognize the COVID virus from these spike proteins and you have an immune reaction to them. This is not conspiracy theory, that is how they work. They don't do anything to your DNA though, they work through RNA. An organism that has genetically modified cells is called what? That's right, you are a GMO when you take an mRNA vaccine. Not wild conspiracy theory, FACT. It is not disputed. The only question is whether the genetic modification is temporary or permanent, and whether or not it affects anything else that we don't know about yet because they haven't done all the necessary testing. That question has not been answered to my satisfaction. In the United States, the vaccines are being released under an "Emergency Use Authorization" meaning they have not been fully tested and approved by the FDA. That testing will take several more months. Interestingly they are holding up the emergency use authorization for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a conventional vaccine, not an mRNA vaccine. hmmm.....

Doc like you I am hoping for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine myself. I read where the FDA released a report on Wednesday about it's effectiveness and anticipated an approval on Friday. They had a report about it on the local news out of Nashville this morning. So hoping it will be available by the time I qualify for a vaccine. We shall see.

Thankyou doc. I am well aware of how vaccines work, both conventional and the new flavours so please, don't try and patronise me or my intelligence.

Sonic, I am sorry you took offense at my post, I had no intention of insulting you or your intelligence. I was trying to clear up any misconceptions anyone (not you) had about the vaccines and also explain to you why I have reservations about them.
If you knew that much about the vaccines, why didn't you explain it and clear up the misconceptions yourself instead of just complaining about people's misconceptions? That would have been more helpful and informative, and I would not have had to say anything.
