they MUST believe the delusion to feel safe instead of taking steps to be safe. Or it could be that they aren't paranoid loonies who think the world will end! TBH the chances of it all going bad are fairly remote. There is a whole lot of self-interest with keeping things going well. We live in probably the best time in recorded human history. There have been a number of occasions where the nukes 'should' have flown but the people involved said "Hang on a minute, let's just take it one step at a time." There is no guarantee that the world will stay nice, but the chances of 'total kaput' are pretty low. So planning for things to go bad is a low-return gamble. And no one knows what will happen, so how, realistically, can you plan for it? Alternatively others just may not want to live if the world goes bad. It is their choice. From what I have read some people just reach a certain point and die. We, on the other hand, are willing to go through the bad stuff no matter how hideous it may be. Maybe they are smarter?

Or it could be that they aren't paranoid loonies who think the world will end! Call me loonie, the world will not end, the Bible makes that clear. We can surmise from recent events and actions happening now though that there is a very good chance that the economy will be shut down again and harder than before. That's recent history, how someone can look past that is not normalcy bias but denial. Vaccines = no job unless you take it. No food unless you take it. Period. Why is there even a discussion about NO RELIGIOUS exceptions happening before they even have one ready to delver? Why is this the only vaccine not allowed to have this exception? Today you will be fired if you do not wear a mask at work, why would one think the short leap to you will be fired if you do not vaccinate is "loonie talk"? My friend was given the choice to take a reoccurring swab test or be fired in 2 days, even though they have already and are willing to give blood draws to confirm negative on COVID. Why mandate a swab sample to prove the same thing at the cost of their job? When did companies get the right to violate your 4th amend rights by demanding "intrusive" operations be done on you for something that has a 0.5% (even with inflated numbers) chance at best of being fatal? Pure loonie to think something worth prepping for might be coming around the corner.... nothing to see here people, keep moving!

You hit the nail on the head there Kelabar. I could understand this paranoia if we were still under cold war conditions, but as you rightly said common sense prevailed.

Has no one noticed there is always another bad guy; Russia, Muslims, Virus, China, Iran, Global Warming, Iraq, Afghanistan, EMP, Venezuela, Libya, Syria, Ebola, North Korea... the list is endless. It really is a matter of putting them all on a wheel and spinning it. Wherever the wheel stops is the 'bad guys' of the moment. It isn't a difficult pattern to see. My 2c.

Or maybe there are a bunch of evil bastards in the world, and we can only deal with so many at a time.

Nah, TPTB politically manufacture a "bogeyman" to deflect attention away from their own overwhelming incompetence and deviousness

Over here we often comment that EVERY time the US has problems it always has to have a boogeymany to blame. If two tourists from Lithuania accidentally brought Corona to the US within weeks the US would be sanctioning economic attacks, planning to invade Lithuania, rounding up Lithuanians citizens in the US, burning their busisnesses Accuse Lithuania of being Chinese agents etc. Then someone will write Latvia instead of Lithuania and the fear, hate and paranoia will switch to them, followed by the US accidentally bombing Lichenstein. The US Always has to have an enemy to focus on.

As you well know, superpowers don't win popularity contests. Historically, we tried to stay out of other wars and the evil bastards hit us anyhow. Shall I go down the list for you? So we hit back, hard. No we're not perfect, but US is the most benign superpower in history... when you leave us alone.

I don't know what North Vietnam, North Korea, Iraq, Haiti or Nicaragua did to the United States to warrant direct military action. The US is a colonial power, using threats and violence to force it's political agenda on the rest of the world. Even today it continues to commit acts of piracy to force other nations to comply with it's wishes. Hardly benign.
