Follow this link and scroll down to the title line: "St. Funogas offered these lengthy comments:"

The author links to the two articles on the topic of how long your/my Prepper food stocks might last and the factors which can quickly deplete your food stores:

If you plan on stockpiles for only the number of people in your immediate household, DO READ the comments by St. Funogas.
One way of handling this problem is to move PART OF your food stockpile into a remote/private storage location. This is food that you DON'T talk about, to anybody except those you completely trust. Who Do You Trust?
This topic is about what may/will happen in an TEOTWAWKI situation. This has been discussed on many Prepper/Survivalist websites for literally years and I hope all of you are aware of what is discussed. If you are newish to Prepping, please don't be offended about this kind of discussion, it is NECESSARY to know what might happen and why we Prep for it. Capisce?
For me personally (TWP), I have a limited immediate family group (3 people) and a larger group who know where I live but no necessarily that I'm a Prepper. I can readily see where our food stocks could suffer a drastic reduction in expected lifetime. If I plan/expect to share our food stores with up to three other people (outside my immediate "family") that will cut my expected storage lifetime by a factor of two (from one year to six months).
Ask yourself how many "extra" people with whom you might be expected to share food stores. Do you see why a remote/private storage location makes sense...
Now... Given our current social/political situation, locally and worldwide, are you Prepared? Tick-Tock said the Crocodile...
