Wasn't it Jerry Clower that used to talk about them big Mississippi "cat head" biscuits?

They look like scones, drhenley . pronounced 'sconns', not rhyming with stone! Very yummy with sultanas in them.

The type of biscuits my grandmother made were light, fluffy and not sweet. But since there are many scone recipes and many biscuit recipes, I'm sure there is some overlap. If I had to give a one word (oversimplified) explanation of the difference it would be "sweetness." Most biscuit recipes do not have any sugar at all. So biscuits are suitable for both sweet and savory pairings, e.g. biscuits and sorghum molasses or biscuits and sawmill gravy. Or my favorite, country fried deer biscuits (smothered with gravy of course ).

Wasn't it Jerry Clower that used to talk about them big Mississippi "cat head" biscuits? I actually interviewed for a job at Mississippi Chemical in Yazoo City. Clower was from Magnolia, which is down in South Mississippi, but he was a salesman for Mississippi Chemical which is what brought him to Yazoo City at the edge of the Delta. And it was his "gift of gab" as a fertilizer salesman for Mississippi Chemical that made him famous.

His favorite was the "coon hunting stories" .

Here is a "sick joke" for you...especially now that we know what we know about what the CCP already knew before this...

False, totally false. We are not drunk all of the time! But the "Feed Him" bit is true!

This is crude humor, but I did burst out laughing so I'll post it for others.

This made me laugh, it is true. To offer is forbidden, but any request must be fulfilled!

This made me laugh, it is true. To offer is forbidden, but any request must be fulfilled! View AttachmentLOL! The fictional Jack Reacher's name is a reference to his height. (which makes the fact that Tom Cruise played him in the movies all the more absurd) The name "Reacher" came from the author's wife's nickname for him. Lee Child is tall (6'4") like the Jack Reacher in the books (6'5") She calls him her "reacher" because he can reach things on the high shelves for her. So he used his wife's nickname for him in naming the character. Tom Cruise is 5'7". Nothing against shorter men, but don't cast them as a 6'5" character whose signature move is a downward head butt on the bridge of someone's nose and whose very name is a reference to his height!
